Kalinzu Forest is a natural forest reserve that is located in Bushenyi district, southwestern Uganda. It is close to Queen Elizabeth National Park and also near Maramagambo Forest, which is a great Uganda tourist destination for safaris. Kalinzu forest accommodates about 414 different tree species, 378 bird species, and six primate mammals. Kalinzu Forest Reserve is within the average altitude of about 1400 meters above sea level since Kalinzu Forest is next to Queen Elizabeth National Park. A lot of wildlife animals hide in this forest, such as elephants that camouflage in different vegetation, leopards, forest hogs, warthogs, and waterbucks, among others. Kalinzu Forest is also famous for Chimpanzee Trekking Adventures in the Jungle. It is named the second-best chimpanzee trekking experience destination after Kibale Forest National Park, which is home to over 300 chimpanzees that have been habituated and are ready for a tourism experience on Uganda’s tour.

Kalinzu the chimp trekking experience is available in the morning, beginning at 8 a.m., or in the afternoon, beginning at 3 p.m. daily. The chimp trekking experience briefing begins at UWA headquarters in the park, where travelers are taught about the dos and don'ts of trekking in Kalinzu Forest. Although chimpanzee trekking in the Kalinzu Forest is limited to children who are 13 years of age and older.

The primary activity luring tourists to the Kalinzu Forest is chimpanzee trekking. In Uganda, the Kalinzu Forest Reserve offers the second-largest chimpanzee population. After Kibale Forest in Uganda, it's the second-best location to track chimpanzees. Kalinzu Forest chimpanzees are habituated and accessible to tourists. While Queen Elizabeth National Park has its chimp group at Kyambura Gorge, most visitors prefer tracking chimps in Kalinzu woodland. Kalinzu Forest is easily accessible via the Mweya area of Queen Elizabeth National Park. It's a short drive.

 Chimpanzee trekking in the Kalinzu Forest is not as strenuous as mountain gorilla trekking. However, it still requires physical fitness to hike for three to four hours through occasionally challenging terrain. There's a chance that the hike will travel through muddy areas of the forest and steep hills. Chimpanzees are more mobile than mountain gorillas, so even though they often inhabit flatter terrain, following them at fast speeds can still be exhausting.

In Kalinzu Forest, chimpanzee tracking begins in the morning and is accompanied by an armed ranger and a park guide. The chimpanzees have been habituated, and they are used to human presence.

Kalinzu Forest has two shifts: morning and afternoon. 8:00 a.m. is the start of the morning shift, while 2:00 p.m. is the start of the afternoon shift. Every shift offers a different experience. As they head outside to eat and guard their territory, the chimps are quite active.

Kalinzu forest chimpanzee trekking starts with a briefing from the rangers and guides at 700 a.m. Visitors are split into three groups based on their pace and overall fitness level. After the briefing, you'll go into the jungle searching for chimpanzees.

Kalinzu Forest offers other forest animals, birds, and primates like baboons, blue monkeys, L'hoest monkeys, and red-tailed monkeys. You will come across them while hiking to find the chimpanzees.
